ERI Helps Conduct Mobile Trainings for Remote Amazon Communities

PDF version

Mobile training participantLast month ERI teamed up with our partners on the ground to conduct a series of mobile trainings on human rights and property laws, grassroots organizing, and media strategies for remote communities in the Peruvian Amazon. These traditional communities are constantly battling human rights and environmental abuses at the hands of Peruvian and multinational corporations seeking business opportunities in the resource-rich Amazon.

Two and three-day workshops were conducted in three communities in northeastern Peru. In each location staff from EarthRights International, Racimos, FECONACO, Shinai, and Amazon Watch instructed local leaders through group lectures/discussions, mock campaign scenarios and demonstrations.
